Beginners Yoga Course

Always wanted to start yoga but not sure how?

Through this live online course, Matt will teach you the essentials you need to begin practicing yoga so that you feel confident attending regular classes. This course is aimed at absolute beginners as well as those who have practiced for a bit and would like to deepen their knowledge. With participation limited to 20 people, each person will receive indidivudal attention.

You will learn key poses from each family of asana including standing poses, balances, forward folds, backbends, and twists. You will learn alignment cues associated with each pose as well as how to adapt poses for different abilities. You will also learn breathing and meditation techniques which can be used in daily life.

Matt's aim is to make yoga accessible to you and he welcomes questions at the end of each session. After each lesson, you will receive a link with the recording of that class so that you can practice on your own before the next lesson.

Do I have to be fit, bendy, strong?

This course is designed for a variety of levels and aimed at absolute beginners. You do not need to be fit, bendy or strong -- but you will probably find you are a bit fitter, bendier and stronger by the end! If you have any concerns about the accessibility of the course for special populations, for example if you are a wheelchair user, please call Matt on 07861 465691 and we can discuss. Yoga can be made accessible for any body and all poses can be modified.

Who is Matt?

Matthew Huy is a senior yoga teacher accredited with Yoga Alliance Profesionals and has taught yoga for more than 16 years. He has experience working with people with a variety of injuries and medical conditions. He has taught at top yoga and Pilates venues in London and Bucks and is near the end of a MSc in Sport, Health and Exercise Science.

What equipment do I need?

You need:

1 yoga mat

2 yoga bricks

1 yoga strap

The Yogamatters Starter Yoga Kit is a good option and just add two bricks. Here is their website (opens in new tab).

You could always get creative and use household objects if you are not ready to invest in bricks and a strap.

​

How do I book? How do I receive the Zoom link?

Click the 'Book Now' button below and enter your details. You will be directed to make a payment online (credit or debit card) and, once confirmed, you will receive an email with the Zoom link. Then just show up on the day. I will ask that you keep your camera on so that I can adjust your alignment as needed. I think we all know how to use Zoom by now, but if you need any help, click on the 'Online Classes with Matt & Saz' link above in the menu.
