Language in Yoga: Fear, Safety & Science
Thu, 25 May 2023 6pm-8:30pm (UK) £35
- Online workshop
🤔 Is yoga dangerous? 🤔 Is it okay to do backbends and forward folds repeatedly? 🤔 Is your language as a teacher healing or harming? Join this workshop if you want to: ⭐ Feel more confident as a yoga teacher. ⭐ Stop using language with the potential to harm. ⭐ Start using language that heals. Through group work and interactive lecture, we will explore: 1. The scientific evidence on how safe yoga is. 2. The potentially harmful effects of fear-based language. 3. How to use reassuring language. 4. The many benefits of yoga and exercise. 5. How our bodies adapt to exercise throughout life. This workshop is the result of my dissertation for my master’s degree in exercise science. I've read hundreds of scientific papers on injury, safety, pain and biomechanics — so you don't have to. From a previous course participant: "It made me question some of the language I use and will make me a better teacher. It's a really important topic for us yoga teachers." -Louise C., Yoga teacher Thu, 25 May 2023 6pm-8:30pm (UK) 1pm-3:30pm (ET) 10am-12:30pm (PT) Investment: £35 If you are unable to attend live but would like the recording, you can book the workshop as normal and the recording will be sent to you after.
